We are raising money to purchase a Savaria Dodge Caravan with a side entry for Chester Haines.

Chester was born with Cerebral Palsy and now uses a mobility chair to get around with. When Chester was younger he always would depend on his forearm crutches to get around with and that is all he would use.  He also was able to drive a vehicle, go 4-wheeling and even spent many summer days and evenings fishing with his younger brother in their fathers fishing boat. However over the past several year’s Chester's disability and health has decreased quite a bit.

Chester is faced each day with a lot of pain, he has Neuropathy in his feet and suffers from that also.  This van would give him some of the freedom he so well deserves, not just for enjoyment, but also needed to make it easier to get to his doctor appointments and any medical help he needs.

A wheelchair equipped van will give Chester the ability to sit in his own customized wheelchair for comfort especially on his many trips to see his doctors and specialists and be able to visit Chester's family who live almost 4 hours away, one way. With Chester's parents getting older he would like to visit them more now but that's a long time to be sitting in a car for anyone and especially for someone like Chester who cannot just step out and stretch every now and then.

Chester met his wife carol and they will be married 12 years this September.  his wife carol had an elderly mother she was looking after and two children, but she fell in love with him and with the kind and generous heart she has, didn’t think twice about marrying him despite all the medical problems he had and she would be faced with him later in life. Since then Chester's health has decreased each year and will get worse.

This van would provide a much more improved life for Chester as well as his wife Carol. With Carol trying to get Chester independently in the car and seated properly as his legs doesn’t bend easily like a normal person, and making sure he is comfortable, it would benefit the two of them immensely.

With the van, the two of them would be able to go out more for simple day trips or go for a well deserved honeymoon which they never had when they got married almost 12 years ago. It would also allow them to be more independent without the help of the few people that so generously assist them on a daily basis.

For those from Chester's community,  donations of cash, checks or money orders can be dropped off in trust to his mother, Peggy Haines.
